On the May 27 broadcast of SBS’s variety show Whenever Possible, actors Kim Da-mi and Son Seok Gu appeared as “gap friends” alongside hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok, sharing everyday stories and candid anecdotes.

On their way to the second “gap” location, the four engaged in natural conversation. Yoo Jae-suk praised Kim Da-mi, saying, “You’re adapting so well to variety today, almost like a team member,” creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Son Suk-ku then brought up the common experience of post-meal drowsiness, confessing, “I’ve felt sleepy during drama shoots. I even fell asleep while acting.” He added with a laugh, “The food from the catering truck was so good that I got hit with food coma,” sharing a humorous yet relatable anecdote. Yoo Jae-suk burst into laughter, saying, “Wow, Son Suk-ku is so human,” turning the set into a sea of laughter.

Another amusing story followed. The group arrived at a taco restaurant, a favorite spot recommended by Son Suk-ku, which coincidentally matched a viewer-submitted “gap location.” Yoo Jae-suk exclaimed, “This is an incredible coincidence. It’s a sign your drama will be a hit!” Son Suk-ku, equally amused, said, “This is hilarious. How does it match so perfectly? I really want this to succeed, especially since it’s my regular spot,” adding to the laughter. The restaurant owner chimed in, “I saw him playing games while waiting before,” expressing delight at Son Suk-ku’s familiar visits.

Son Suk-ku’s rising popularity continues to soar. His latest drama, JTBC’s fantasy-romance Heavenly Ever After, recently ranked No. 1 in South Korea’s May 2025 drama brand reputation rankings, surpassing even higher-rated series. Despite a 28% drop in engagement compared to April, the show led the list with an impressive brand reputation index of 6.06 million points, solidifying its cultural impact.
